7th of June – Potato Fair in Sa Pobla

The potato festival takes place every year in early June, transforming the small village of Sa Pobla and its Plaça Major into a large shop window where bars and restaurants showcase the culinary possibilities of this product.

Wide potato fields welcome all visitors of Sa Pobla. This small, Mallorcan village in the northeast of the island has very fertile land for vegetables of all kinds, the rice varieties ‘Bombeta or Pobler’ and above all, the well-known potatoes, Sa Pobla‘s figurehead thrive here. The mayor of Sa Pobla wants to promote the famous potatoes in collaboration with many Mallorcan bars and restaurants. There will be over 150 different dishes with potatoes as main course or side dish, the prices are between one and three euros per serving. In addition, the matching wines of various bodegas are served. And also the children will not be bored, there will be different activities and a music animation. The shops in Sa Pobla open until 21:00 during the potato fair and offer special discounts. The festival begins on both days of the event at 19:00 on the Plaça Major, which is decorated in traditional Mallorcan style.
